What is DIKSHA?
DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) is a national platform aimed at school education in India, established by the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) under the Ministry of Education (MoE). Launched in 2017 by Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, the then Vice President of India, DIKSHA has gained widespread adoption among various States, Union Territories, and central autonomous bodies, including CBSE. The platform is rooted in the National Teacher Platform Strategy and Approach Paper, released in 2017 by Shri Prakash Javadekar, the then Minister for Human Resource Development.
DIKSHA offers flexible access to learners and educators across India, supporting 36 Indian languages. It allows individual States and Union Territories to tailor their programs according to local requirements. The platform’s policies and tools facilitate participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including educators, experts, organizations, and institutions—both governmental and private—to collaborate on achieving educational goals at a national scale. The PM eVidya initiative, part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat scheme, has endorsed DIKSHA as “One Nation, One Digital Platform.”
NCERT textbooks on DIKSHA are licensed under CC BY NC-ND, and other resources are licensed under CC BY NC-SA, promoting a shared and adaptable approach to education.
