Mass communication has emerged as a major field of interest, and it has made a significant contribution to society’s growth and empowerment. It has steadily grown in importance as an academic discipline and has become a big draw for students. The growth of mass media has been aided greatly by the information technology revolution. It has also raised significant challenges for students, teachers, and media practitioners. In a way that no other field of academic activity has seen, the constantly emerging technology scenario is changing the very complexion of the discipline. It’s a challenge that IIMC gladly welcomes. Over the course of 28 hundred years of media education, 29 cultural, educational, religious, health, entertainment, film, radio, and television topics have arisen. Over 100 former students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) have written to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, opposing the over 100% fee increase in ten years and requesting a reversal. Last week, students at the IIMC began a strike over a fee increase.

Over 120 alumni of the institute wrote to the secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I and B), expressing their support for the protesting students. The chairman of the IIMC Society, which regulates the university, is also the secretary of the Ministry of I and B.
