Holding NEET Exam in May is unlikely For NTA

NEET 2021 dates are eagerly awaited for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. The speculation is that Union Minister of Education Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is expected to declare the NEET 2021 date by the end of January. While actual dates are still not specified, with CBSE and other State Board Exams scheduled for May, the possibility of conducting NEET 2021 in May can be safely excluded. The probability of the NEET exam in June or July may be further pushed by the board as expected. Following the announcement of the CBSE 10th Board Exam 2021 dates and the CBSE 12th Board Exam 2021 dates on 31 December, the dates on which Class 10 and 12 board reviews will begin were also shared by several state boards. The dates are for May for many. With NEET being a single national level examination for all medical and dental admissions, the examinations in May 2021 can clearly not be carried out now.

Dates for NEET 2021: What we know so far

The Education Minister claimed in one of his webinars, while interacting with the students, that the National Testing Agency is considering conducting NEET twice this year. No potential months or dates, however, have been revealed so far. Experts have maintained that before most of the board exam dates are announced, the NEET 2021 dates can not be shared. NEET 2021 can not be performed in May 2021, but June and July are likely, according to an academician familiar with NEET prep for several years. In view of the decisions taken so far by the Ministry of Education with respect to competitive and board exams, the June and July dates are not excluded. We’re optimistic, but the logistics vary! .” Considering that today Mr Pokhriyal will announce advanced JEE dates, i.e. On 7 January 2021, it is anticipated that a decision on the conduct of NEET 2021 will also be taken soon. Sources close to the National Testing Agency have announced that the NEET 2021 evaluation discussions are underway. On the other hand, there are some experts who claim that it will not be possible to conduct NEET twice a year, as NEET is not like JEE Main. “The expert stated, “Although both are national level exams, NEET is a pen and paper and makes it special and one of a kind in the world as a single test for MBBS and BDS admissions. About 16 lakh candidates appear for the examination, making it probably the largest national entrance exam as well. It might not be feasible to conduct the examination twice, but given the pandemic, certain possibilities must be disadvantaged.
