Law College Entrance Exams in India

Being a lawyer is a matter of matching in depth knowledge of the law with unique interpretations that will help you retain order even as you win a case. Studying law is an option that comes after being able to clear the law college entrance exams in India. So, are you ready to be a lawyer? Unlike JEE and Medical entrance exams, these tests require a completely different set of skills.

The law college entrance exams in India are quite a hard nut to crack. There are many kinds of tests that are preferred by the top universities and institutions where you can learn all about family law, criminal law, family law, corporate law and so much more. The entrance test will also help you understand which niche would be best suited for and which one you would have to follow to make a good career in the field of law. Here is a list of law college entrance exams in India:

  • CLAT: The Common Law Admission Test was supposed to be held on the 24th of May this year, but it has been indefinitely postponed. The application for this law college entrance exam has to be done between the 1st of January and the 25th of May, although the last date has been extended this year due to the COVID 19 situation.
  • AILET: The All India Law Entrance Test is usually held in the month of August and was to be conducted on the 9th of August, this year. But is has been indefinitely postponed with no new date in sight. The last dates for applications was the 30th of June, yet this too has been extended due to the pandemic and lock down crisis.
  • LSAT: The Law School Admission Test is usually held in the last week on June and the applications open in December, the previous year. This year, the test was supposed to be conducted on the 14th of June but this has been postponed indefinitely. The date for application has also be extended indefinitely.
  • MH CET Law: This law school entrance exam is held for the 3 year LLB course and the 5 year LLB course. The date for the 3 LLB course entrance test was the 24th of July, while the date for the 5 year LLB course was set for the 6th of August. Both these tests have been postponed indefinitely.

These are just a few of the exams, while there are many more that are conducted during the same months. These exams usually test aptitude and reasoning power as well as the knowledge of current affairs held by the applicant. Mathematical aptitude and legal aptitude are also tested with specific questions that are aimed in these niches. You should be well versed with what is happening in the country and the world, with a strong reasoning side if you want to crack these exams and get admission into a top law college to emerge as a top lawyer someday!
