The country is now struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic’s second wave. To break the chain, the majority of states have enforced lockdown and curfews. The majority of education boards have postponed the class 12 board exams at this time. Many states have examined, or are in the process of evaluating, class 10 students based on internal assessment and past exam results. Many others, however, have not made the decision to sit the Class 12 exams.
The state education board examinations for classes 10 and 12 have been postponed by the Rajasthan government. Students in classes 8, 9, and 10 were also directed to be promoted to the next classes by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education in Ajmer. In light of the escalating COVID-19 cases, the Himachal Pradesh government has postponed the ongoing state board exams for classes 10 and 12, according to state education secretary Rajeev Sharma. The education secretary also announced that the undergraduate university examinations, which were scheduled to begin on April 17, have been postponed.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong remarked that Meghalaya state board class 12 examinations will be held on time and with the utmost caution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Maharashtra government postponed the state board exams for Classes 10 and 12, which were set to take place later this month, on Monday, citing a sharp increase in coronavirus cases in the state. The West Bengal administration said it will take appropriate action in light of the increase in coronavirus cases, prioritising the health of students who will appear for the state board’s higher secondary and secondary examinations in June. The state’s secondary test for 2021 is set to take place between June 1 and June 10, with the upper secondary test starting on June 15.
Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases, the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has postponed the examinations for Classes 10 and 12. Exams for high school, higher secondary, and a diploma in pre-school education (vocational course) were set to commence on April 30 and May 1 respectively. According to Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh, the tests for Class 10th and Intermediate will be held on time. The Andhra Pradesh Education Department has released a schedule for the holding of 10th grade exams in June and Intermediate exams in May.
Despite the current epidemic, all states decided on Sunday to hold CBSE and CISCE class 12 board exams in 2021, according to reports following a high-level meeting of state Education Ministers and state Education Secretaries today. According to reports, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also handles the Education portfolio, has urged the government to begin vaccinations for class 12 children before the board examinations are held. He requested that the Centre speak with Pfizer about vaccinations for Class 12 students.
“More than 95% of pupils in class 12 are beyond the age of 17.5 years. “The Centre should consult specialists to see if Covishield or Covaxin vaccines can be administered to them,” Sisodia said during the high-level meeting.
