Our goal at Afairs is to continue to serve as a link between the worldwide student diaspora and Indian institutions.”

For years, India’s culture of “Atithi Devo Bhava” has attracted international students. The government, on the other hand, is now focusing on converting India into a global centre for higher education. Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the ‘Study in India’ project in her recent budget statement, with the goal of improving the country’s higher education profile. Study in India, a collaborative project of Educational Consultants India Limited (EdCIL) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), was launched with the goal of increasing the number of international students to 2 lakhs in the following five years. Over the course of 2018-20, the government has allotted a budget of 150 crores for the initiative, which will mostly be used for brand marketing activities.
