Due to an increase in Covid-19 incidents, CBSE Class 12 Board Exams could be postponed until July
Due to an increase in Covid-19 cases across the country, CBSE Class 12 Board Exams may be postponed until July. The Central Board of Secondary Education has already postponed the Class 12 Board Exam for 2021, and the Class 10 Board Exam has been cancelled to avoid the spread of Covid-19. According to many recent sources, the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 may be held after July. So far, there has been no clarification from CBSE on the subject. “With the current state of affairs and a sudden uptick in Covid-19 incidents, it seems less and less likely that examinations will happen,” Manit Jain, Chairman, FICCI ARISE; Co-founder and Director, The Heritage Group of Schools, told India Today. “Either CBSE will investigate options for open book online tests, or they would have to rely on the school’s internal assessments and historical performance data to ensure that the marking is fair,” he said.
On June 1, 2021, representatives of the government and education departments will meet to make a final decision on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021. The Union Ministry of Education and examination-related agencies are currently engaged in serious brainstorming on this subject. “I believe CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021 should and will take place,” Manju Rana, Director and Principal of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School in Vasundra, Ghaziabad, said. These examinations are the gold standard for academic evaluation in higher education, and they should not be cancelled.” “The criterion of standardisation of marks for Class 10 should not be extrapolated to Class 12,” she continued, “because college education must be based on quality high school education, which is best measured through Board Exams.”
“Due to the current situation, the exams may be postponed to June, and CBSE may consider the online choice for conducting the tests,” she continued. “The students are now better prepared to take the exams online,” she said. CBSE should finish the exams by the first week of August, in my opinion.” Some parents and students are requesting that students in Class 12 be graded based on their internal evaluation rather than board exam. At the moment, the Ministry is consulting experts on the subject. The University of Georgia has also been briefed on this. In addition, there are suggestions that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate examination may be postponed.
The Delhi government has written to the Central Board of Secondary Education, or CBSE, requesting additional time to compile and submit the CBSE 10th Result 2021. After the board assessments were cancelled, the board recently announced the assessment policy for class 10 students. The schools have been given until June 5 to submit the results, and until June 11 to submit the pending internal assessment (practical) evaluation. Concerned about the timetable, the Delhi government has asked the board to review it, citing the fact that many teachers are on COVID19 duty. In addition, several schools in the city have been turned into vaccination centres, and a lockdown has been enforced until May 10.
