Chemistry is the study of matter, its characteristics, how and why substances combine or distribute to produce other substances, and how substances interact with energy. It may be clubbed together with physics and biology, but people who study chemistry have an entirely separate set of options in terms of their career! Many people ponder upon the fact that chemists are the ones who wear white-coated scientists who are seen mixing unfamiliar liquids in a laboratory, but the truth is that we are all chemists.

There are 5 branches of chemistry and if you pursue any one of them then it is a matter of great achievement. If you study chemistry, these are the branches you would instantly recognise :

  1. Organic chemistry
  2. Inorganic chemistry,
  3. Analytical chemistry,
  4. Physical chemistry,
  5. Biochemistry.

If you wish to take up chemistry as your career then you are willing to stand out of the crowd. Since very few people opt for higher sciences, gateways for job opportunities are wide open for the population who choose to pursue chemistry. You can choose to join medicine, engineering or any other field if you study chemistry and do it well.
