Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal stated on Thursday (June 3) that the eligibility of the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) certificate will be extended from seven years to lifetime, which will benefit thousands of aspirants in the field of education. The decision will take effect in 2011 and will be retroactive. All those who have passed the TET since 2011 will have their certificates valid for life, and they will not be forced to retake the examination. “With retrospective effect from 2011, the validity duration of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualifying certificate has been increased from 7 years to lifetime,” Pokhriyal said in a tweet.
“The appropriate state governments/UTs will take the required steps to revalidate/issue new TET certificates to those applicants whose 7-year limit have already expired,” he said. It will be a positive move, according to Pokhriyal, in improving employment prospects for those interested in pursuing a career as a teacher. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) issued guidelines on February 11, 2011 stating that TET will be organised by state governments and that the TET Certificate would be valid for seven years from the date of passing TET. TET Candidate Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with a minimum grade point average of 45 percent.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in education or complete any other required teacher training programme or course.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and no more than 35 years old.

The official UPTET Syllabus 2021 will be given along with the UPTET 2021 notice. The UPTET exam is tentatively set for February 2021, although the official notice and critical dates have yet to be announced.
The UPTET Exam is divided into two parts: Paper I and Paper II.
Applicants who will teach Classes 1 to 5 in UPTET Paper I, whereas candidates who would teach Classes 6 to 8 in UPTET Paper 2.
One can, however, take both UPTET Paper I and Paper II.
Paper I consists of five subjects, whilst Paper II consists of four.
Each paper contains 150 questions that must be answered in 150 minutes, or 2 hours and 30 minutes.
